{"id":370,"date":"2016-06-01T18:14:35","date_gmt":"2016-06-01T18:14:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.frot.co.nz\/design\/deb-gully\/?page_id=370"},"modified":"2016-12-08T00:38:57","modified_gmt":"2016-12-08T00:38:57","slug":"avoiding-sensitivities","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/www.frot.co.nz\/design\/deb-gully\/nutrition\/avoiding-sensitivities\/","title":{"rendered":"Avoiding Sensitivities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Although we may consider respiratory allergies in our work (eg pollen causing hay fever), as I&#8217;m primarily a nutrition coach, we&#8217;ll mostly be talking about food sensitivities, and what foods you need to avoid for a period of time.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.frot.co.nz\/design\/deb-gully\/files\/2016\/06\/T1larg.gluten.foods_.gi_.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-778\" src=\"http:\/\/www.frot.co.nz\/design\/deb-gully\/files\/2016\/06\/T1larg.gluten.foods_.gi_.jpg\" alt=\"t1larg-gluten-foods_-gi_\" width=\"381\" height=\"246\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.frot.co.nz\/design\/deb-gully\/files\/2016\/06\/T1larg.gluten.foods_.gi_.jpg 556w, http:\/\/www.frot.co.nz\/design\/deb-gully\/files\/2016\/06\/T1larg.gluten.foods_.gi_-300x194.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 381px) 100vw, 381px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Some of the common categories of problem foods include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Gluten OR just wheat OR all starches<\/li>\n<li>Dairy (usually either lactose or casein specifically)<\/li>\n<li>Peanuts &amp; other nuts<\/li>\n<li>Soy<\/li>\n<li>Sugars<\/li>\n<li>Banana (this seems to come up more in NZ than overseas)<\/li>\n<li>Nightshades (potatoes, tomatoes, capsicum, paprika, chillies, eggplant, goji berries)<\/li>\n<li>Oxalates<\/li>\n<li>Salicylates<\/li>\n<li>FODMAPS<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If there are only one or two sensitivities, we may look at whether there are some emotional triggers we can clear, using <a href=\"http:\/\/www.frot.co.nz\/design\/deb-gully\/eft\/\">EFT<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.frot.co.nz\/design\/deb-gully\/therapies\/kinesiology\/\">kinesiology<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.frot.co.nz\/design\/deb-gully\/therapies\/energy-techniques\/\">other energy<\/a> techniques.<\/p>\n<p>But if there are a number of them, we will probably need to look at some <a href=\"http:\/\/www.frot.co.nz\/design\/deb-gully\/nutrition\/gaps\/\">gut repair work<\/a>.
