{"id":11,"date":"2016-02-08T00:29:55","date_gmt":"2016-02-07T11:29:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.frot.co.nz\/design\/gapsnz\/lifestyle\/"},"modified":"2017-01-19T16:27:19","modified_gmt":"2017-01-19T03:27:19","slug":"lifestyle","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/www.frot.co.nz\/design\/gapsnz\/gaps-lifestyle\/lifestyle\/","title":{"rendered":"Lifestyle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The three main components of the GAPS protocol are:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.frot.co.nz\/design\/gapsnz\/gaps-diet\/\">Diet and Nutrition<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.frot.co.nz\/design\/gapsnz\/gaps-lifestyle\/supplements\/\">Supplementation<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Detoxification (covered more in the book)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>But there are other lifestyle factors that will also support your healing.<\/p>\n<hr align=\"center\" size=\"3\" width=\"100%\" \/>\n<p class=\"heading2 style10\"><strong>Physical Activity<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Although you need to make sure that you&#8217;re not exercising to a degree that causes further stress on your system, the right kind of activity can enhance your enjoyment and well-being.<\/p>\n<p>Suitable activities could include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Brain Gym<span class=\"style6\"> <span style=\"color: #000066; font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;\"><b>\u00ae<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li>Walking, especially on the beach or anywhere in nature<\/li>\n<li>Dance classes<\/li>\n<li>Playing on the jungle gym at the local school playground<\/li>\n<li>Swimming in the sea, lake or river. A swimming pool that&#8217;s fresh water, or ozone treated would also be fine. But avoid pools treated with chemicals.<\/li>\n<li>Yoga, Pilates or other stretching<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr align=\"center\" size=\"3\" width=\"100%\" \/>\n<p class=\"heading2 style10\"><strong>Rest and relaxation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is especially important when going through the Intro, through times of healing crisis, or any other time of physical, personal or family stress.<\/p>\n<p>Be kind and gentle with yourself.<\/p>\n<p>Ask for help from family members.<\/p>\n<p>Make sure you have some time off each day, and do things you enjoy.<\/p>\n<p>Techniques that release stress such as meditation or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.frot.co.nz\/design\/deb-gully\/eft\/about-eft\/\" target=\"_blank\">Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)<\/a> are also beneficial.
