Most of these recipes are from this\u00a0recipe blog, but some are from other people&#8217;s blogs and we may not have tested them.<\/p>\n<p>I may post new ideas to my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pinterest.com\/dietnetrecipes\/festive-chocolate-candy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pinterest Festive recipes board<\/a>, even if I don&#8217;t have time to try them out or post them here, so check in periodically.<\/p>\n<p>Unless stated, these recipes are suitable for GAPS, SCD, gluten free and in most cases dairy free diets. But we believe that &#8220;special&#8221; food should taste good, so family members not on special diets might not even notice they&#8217;re different. Make sure you test the recipe before Xmas Day, so you can tweak to suit your own tastes.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s another Pinterest board with a selection of recipes for a <a href=\"https:\/\/nz.pinterest.com\/free_range_mama\/gaps-christmas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GAPS Christmas<\/a>. This has a pecan stuffing and no starch, so is suitable for GAPS.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.frot.co.nz\/design\/recipes\/roast-turkey\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Roast turkey with millet and cranberry stuffing<\/a> (gluten free, but not GAPS).<\/li>\n<li>For GAPsters, or if you can&#8217;t be faffed making stuffing, make <a href=\"http:\/\/www.frot.co.nz\/design\/recipes\/cranberry-sauce\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cranberry sauce<\/a> instead.<\/li>\n<li>Curried chicken or turkey salad<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Vegetarian<\/h3>\n<p>If you&#8217;re catering for a lacto-ovo vegetarian, these dishes are delicious and everybody else will like them too:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.frot.co.nz\/design\/recipes\/mushroom-nut-roast\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nut roast<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.frot.co.nz\/design\/recipes\/spinach-roulade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Spinach roulade<\/a>,\u00a0filled\u00a0with chopped tomatoes and white cheese<\/li>\n<li>This recipe for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nigella.com\/recipes\/roast-stuffed-pumpkin-with-gingery-tomato-sauce\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stuffed Pumpkin with Ginger Tomato Sauce<\/a> by Nigella is vegetarian, gluten free but not starch free.<\/li>\n<li>Or go the whole hog (so to speak) and try <a href=\"https:\/\/nadialim.com\/recipe\/vegan-christmas-roast-cranberry-sage-cashew-nut-stuffing-balls-tomato-onion-gravy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nadia Lim&#8217;s Vegetarian or Vegan Christmas Roast with Cranberry, Sage and Cashew Nut Stuffing Balls and Tomato Onion Gravy<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><img class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/_XgsTodaivOI\/TP_RYff_EGI\/AAAAAAAABQw\/XQpOf-qCIv0\/s1600\/sauerkraut-salad.jpg\" \/><\/h3>\n<h3>Vegetables<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>For the GAPsters &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.frot.co.nz\/design\/recipes\/twice-baked-pumpkin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twice baked pumpkin<\/a><\/li>\n<li>For the non-GAPsters &#8211; roast potatoes or kumera, or potato \/ kumera salad.<\/li>\n<li>This recipe for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seeandsavour.com\/2014\/02\/roasted-citrus-thyme-ombre-carrots.html#.WEYpAdJ96po\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Roasted Citrus Thyme Carrots<\/a> looks lovely &#8211; especially if you have access to heritage carrots<\/li>\n<li>Raw vege platter &#8211; chunks of cos lettuce, cherry tomatoes, capsicum, cucumber, grated carrot, fresh green pea pods. Or turn it into kefir.<\/li>\n<li>Water kefir (not suitable for GAPS)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>For the adults:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Cider &#8211; there are loads to try<\/li>\n<li>Preservative free red wine<\/li>\n<li>Sangria &#8211; there is apparently no standard recipe for it, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gimmesomeoven.com\/sangria\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here&#8217;s one<\/a> to give you some ideas<\/li>\n<li>Back in the day, my family were not drinkers. But at Xmas, Grandma, Mum and my aunts would break out the bottle of Blackberry Nip, and have a small splash in a glass of lemonade. Amazingly, you can still get it. Or a beautiful raspberry Liqueur is Chambord.
