{"id":604,"date":"2007-11-05T17:25:07","date_gmt":"2007-11-05T04:25:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.frot.co.nz\/design\/recipes\/?p=604"},"modified":"2021-05-18T09:42:59","modified_gmt":"2021-05-17T21:42:59","slug":"hummus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.frot.co.nz\/design\/recipes\/hummus\/","title":{"rendered":"Hummus"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Measure out about a cup of chick peas<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Soak overnight (or 8 hours) in a large pan of warm water, with 2 Tbs whey<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Rinse and pick out any bad looking ones<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Cover with fresh water, making sure you have at least as much water as peas<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Cook for 2 &#8211; 2 1\/2 hours, until soft, checking water from time to time<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Drain off the water into a cup<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Dissolve 1\/4 tsp sea salt in about 1\/3 cup of the water.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Blend the chick peas and the salted water in the food processor till smooth<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Add flavourings and blend again. Choose from:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">2-3 cloves garlic, crushed<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">1\/2 &#8211; 1 ml of cayenne OR 1 tsp mustard<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">1-2 Tbs lemon or lime juice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Add about 1\/4 jar of tahini and process again<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">If mixture is too runny, add more tahini.
