If you use a mild flavoured nut such as almonds or macadamias, these taste very similar.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>225gms (8 oz) <a href=\"http:\/\/www.naturefoods.co.nz\/nutritional-oils\/coconut-oils\">coconut oil<\/a><\/li>\n<li>4 Tbs honey<\/li>\n<li>4 Tbs <a href=\"http:\/\/www.naturefoods.co.nz\/other-foods\/cacao-products\">cocoa<\/a><\/li>\n<li>1 cup dessicated coconut<\/li>\n<li>3 cups crispy nuts, roughly chopped in a food processor<\/li>\n<li>Optional: \u00bd cup sultanas or raisins<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\">Melt the coconut oil and honey over a very low heat. Meanwhile, chop up the nuts and mix together with the coconut and cocoa. Mix in the melted coconut oil &amp; honey and mix well. Spoon into patty pans and put in the fridge till they set. Or pour onto a baking tray, and break into chunks once set.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\">Your own favourite snack bar:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\">Once you\u2019ve tried the previous recipes a couple of times, you\u2019ll probably want to experiment with developing your own favourites. Combine items from these 4 groups:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Base:<\/p>\n<p>Flavourings:<\/p>\n<p>Binding:<\/p>\n<p>Coating: (optional)<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Ground crispy nuts or seeds<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Ground flaxseed<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Sesame seeds<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Coconut<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Stevia<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Glycerol<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Raw honey \/ maple syrup<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.naturefoods.co.nz\/other-foods\/cacao-products\">Cocoa<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Bee pollen<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Essences or extracts: eg vanilla, orange, peppermint<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Cinnamon or ginger<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Chopped dried fruit<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.naturefoods.co.nz\/nutritional-oils\/coconut-oils\">Coconut oil<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Coconut cream<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Tahini or nut butter (but not as good a fat balance)<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; A little water<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Fine coconut<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Sesame seeds<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.naturefoods.co.nz\/other-foods\/cacao-products\">Cocoa powder<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Melted sugar free chocolate (for a special occasion)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Remember the chocolate rice bubbles \u201ccrackles\u201d that used to be popular at children\u2019s birthday parties?
