I have been thinking about what you said about being smart and yet ignorant. I guess what I've deliberately chosen to do is be cheerful and dumb instead, as I figure I've been through enough traumatic and misery-inducing shit from close range that I have no energy to spare for worrying about whether old men in Switzerland are conspiring, or if GWB and the CIA created 9/11 so they can subvert freedom to their own ends. Having a wife and kids provides quite enough stress in my life as it is!
I am definitely smart enough to see what goes on around me, whether or not I think you're talking preposterous rubbish, and of course it concerns me (from the above issues to my sons being able to buy P at school to Maori radicals wanting to kill me to get practised at killing, to the culture of "fuck you" that prevails, to climate change (or not) to a myriad of other issues I have little to no control over...), but I think happiness is so hard to come by I refuse to seek out more or new reasons to be worried or unhappy.
I don't want to say that your POV is not valid or that you don't know what you're on about, but I simply don't need or want to know how evil the world is, or if I do I want to repress it until I am directly confronted by it, and knowing the things you think you know doesn't help me with dealing with my life, so I'll remain ignorant by choice... after all, it is bliss. ;-) - BM

a general physician, I am highly concerned about the rampant use of
coke and pepsi products for a simple reason: pH.
The blood must "religiously" maintains a basic pH of 7.35-7.45.
Since a blood pH of less than 7.2 can result in death by cardiac arrest
or metabolic acidosis, the body essentially "robs Peter to pay
Paul" to ensure the blood pH remains within strict limits.
Since the pH scale is logarithmic, the pH of coke (about 3.4) is TEN
THOUSAND times (10 to the 4th power) more acidic than the normal blood
pH of about 7.4. Studies have shown that these acidic drinks increase
the urinary excretion of calcium; it only makes simple sense that the
source of this calcium is from bone since an increased level of calcium,
absorbed from the bones, helps to buffer the pH of the blood to maintain
that life-promoting pH of about 7.4.
Bottom line? Coke is hazardous to your health -- no bones about it -
