Purple<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/h1>\n

Purple is my favourite colour. This may mean I am a lesbian. It has been said that most men are lesbians trapped in men’s bodies. I once was outed by NZ stand up comic Cal Wilson for wearing a purple top at her show. Ever since then I’ve unsure of my identity. I catch people staring at my purple mobile phone, and my friends have started buying me purple pens. And that’s cool. So long as purple never becomes the new beige\u2026

Tinky Winky Is Gay<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

FEBRUARY 23, 1999: Last week, in the February issue of his National Liberty Journal, TV preacher Jerry Falwell outed Tinky Winky, the purple leader of TV’s Teletubby clan.
\nIn an article titled, “Parents Alert: Tinky Winky Comes Out of the Closet,” Falwell’s newsletter cited the following evidence that Tinky Winky is gay: “He is purple – the gay-pride color; and, his antenna is shaped like a triangle – the gay-pride symbol.” The article also pointed out that Tinky Winky carries a purse.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n


\n“As a Christian,” Falwell wrote in a statement last Tuesday, “I feel that role modeling the gay lifestyle is damaging to the moral lives of children.”

An Itsy Bitsy Entertainment Co., spokesperson, which licenses the Teletubbies in the United States, said the purse is actually Tinky Winky’s magic bag.
\n“The Human Rights Campaign assures the parents of the world that your children will not become gay due to the subversive effects of the color purple, triangles, and magic bags,” said Smith.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

It effectively lobbies Congress, provides campaign support and educates the public to ensure that lesbian and gay Americans can be open, honest and safe at home, at work and in the community<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0Color Trends – A new recipe for purple<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

It was only three years ago that the American religious leader Rev. Jerry Falwell suggested that the purple Teletubby “Tinky Winky” (on a popular children’s TV show) was promoting a gay lifestyle to children. Falwell’s monthly magazine, stated “He is purple — the gay-pride color; and his antenna is shaped like a triangle — the gay-pride symbol. ” Soon after, every purple children’s character became a victim of his bizarre reasoning. Even Barney, the big purple dinosaur from another educational TV program, had to go into hiding.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Suddenly purple takes on new meaning. It’s 2002 and purple isn’t just kiddy stuff; it’s the new color of M&Ms and it’s reappearing in unexpected ways, almost as if it were negating its past.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

In direct contrast, Rap musician, Eminem – whose vicious lyrics make Rev. Falwell’s homophobic rants sound like nursery rhymes – is auctioning one of his most prized possessions, a custom-painted purple Ford Mustang. And all proceeds above the normal cost of the car are donated to the Macomb Literacy Project.<\/span><\/b><\/b><\/p>\n

Also worth noting is the media attention to purple in “Star Wars: Episode II-Attack of the Clones.” In the amazing battle scene, Jedi leader Mace Windu’s purple light saber stands out amidst a sea of blue and green sabers. When asked why, “Star Wars” creator George Lucas replied that Mace was an advanced Jedi with higher powers and needed something very special. Others say that Samuel Jackson, the actor who played the role of the second baddest mother of all Jedi, thought the color was cool and talked Lucas into approving the color. Gay Railways
\n<\/span><\/b>The proposed Purple Line rail that will be built through campus is not just an improved form of mass transit but a gay role model, Reverend Jerry Falwell said in a shocking announcement yesterday.
\nFalwell noted that all of the other lines on the Washington, D.C.-area Metrorail system use “normal colors,” like red, blue, green, yellow and orange. The proposed rail line, he said, uses purple, the gay-pride color.
\nIn addition, unlike the other Metrorail lines, which are powered by electric cables running parallel to the tracks, the new Purple Line will be powered by an overhead electric cable. Falwell noted that the train cars and the overhead cable will be connected by a triangle-shaped antenna, another gay pride symbol.
\nFurthermore, while all the other Metrorail lines go through Washington, D.C., the Purple Line will be the only one that goes around the suburbs. “Notice how the Purple Line will be completely out of the city,” Falwell commented. “It’s so clearly showing that the rail line is demonstrating an outed, homosexual lifestyle.”
\nFalwell also noted that, because the Purple Line will travel both above ground and underground, it will go in and out of tunnels. “I don’t even want to think about that,” Falwell said.
\nThe Purple Line will have two stops on campus, one on the east side, the other on the west side. Falwell surmised that the campus got two stops due to “the power of the [gay rights organization] Pride Alliance, which has been lobbying to increase the gayness on campus.”
\n“At first, even I thought the idea of a rail line being used as a gay symbol was ridiculous,” Falwell said. “But then I started looking at the facts, and quickly realized that this would be no ordinary train, but a homosexual agenda train.”
\nThe Purple Line was proposed earlier this week and construction won’t begin until 2008. Falwell said he wanted to make sure that it would not built until the gay symbols are eliminated. “I feel that role modeling the gay lifestyle is damaging to the moral lives of children, and I’d hate for any children riding Metrorail to suffer through it.” <\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n
