If nobody could see your message and comment or vote on it, what would be the point of it? And why would anybody bother to read it?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>If anyone has less than 200 friends, what would be the point of their existence? Really the world would be a better place if they just logged out. A person\u2019s true value can only be measured in Facebook friends and more is more.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>One of the most important functions of Facebook was to enable us to post \u201cselfies\u201d. Each day, when we scrolled down our feed, new selfies were what we hoped to see, like life changing treasures that changed our whole understanding of the meaning of existence.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.frot.co.nz\/design\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/1-selfie-fails.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-9283 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.frot.co.nz\/design\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/1-selfie-fails-500x429.jpg\" alt=\"1-selfie-fails\" width=\"500\" height=\"429\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.frot.co.nz\/design\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/1-selfie-fails-500x429.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.frot.co.nz\/design\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/1-selfie-fails-200x171.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.frot.co.nz\/design\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/1-selfie-fails.jpg 665w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>To begin with, we reacted by commenting, saying things like \u201cLOL\u201d or \u201cUR SO GAY\u201d but over time we became too lazy to type out thoughtful measured responses to posts, and even hitting the like button became too demanding.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.frot.co.nz\/design\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Katyursogayep.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9284 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.frot.co.nz\/design\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Katyursogayep.jpg\" alt=\"Katyursogayep\" width=\"220\" height=\"220\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.frot.co.nz\/design\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Katyursogayep.jpg 220w, https:\/\/www.frot.co.nz\/design\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Katyursogayep-200x200.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 220px) 100vw, 220px\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>We found ourselves just staring at our feeds, making occasional muttering noises if we found we disagreed with something, but eventually just staring silently because there was nothing left to disagree with.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Everybody we might disagree with had been unfriended, until our feed was so boring that we learnt to not really see it at all. Unfortunately, that meant we ended up with less and less friends, until we arrived at having less than 200.
